Bedford Area Bus Users Society

About Us

Through no fault of the current BABUS committee, we are no longer to use the 0870 phone number that we have previously advised. With immediate effect, we now have two numbers. To phone us, simply pick up your phone handset, and dial 0871 218, then spell out BBUS using the letters – in other words that is 0871 218 2287.

This call costs 10p a minute plus any network extras, but if you are on a standard BT residential telephone line, a 2-and-a-half minute call will cost 35-38 pence – including VAT – less than the cost of a First Class postage stamp (now 60p for “Letter”, or 90 for a “large letter” as at January 2013).

If you’ve never phoned us, don’t be afraid! It’s a voicemail system, like an improved version of the domestic answer phone. Leave us a landline number (i.e. one beginning 01, 02 or 03) and a good time to call, and one of the BABUS committee will call you to discuss your thoughts or concerns.

BABUS will make no financial gain from having these numbers – the phone system is working at no cost to BABUS. It is simply paid for via the caller’s phone or fax at 10p/minute (inc. VAT) from a standard BT residential landline, plus any call setup or handling charges. Other operator’s costs will vary. However, unlike other organisations who use 0844/0871 numbers to keep you on hold (racking up charges), we never do this. Our number is purely an answer phone – and because it’s a digital system, the line can never be busy, so it’s always ready to go.

If you wish to send us a fax, we now have a separate number - 0871 218 3293. Again, as the system is “always on”, you’ll should never need to queue for our number. Don’t think that this is just for business people - if you’ve got one of those all-in-one printer/scanner/faxes, you can fax us! We are always contactable via email too – web_info@babus.org.uk where we will respond to your message as soon as we can.
